MacKenzie Scott's Generosity Fuels San Francisco's Real Estate and LGBTQ+ Causes

MacKenzie Scott, the philanthropist and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has donated $20 million to the San Francisco Community Land Trust, an affordable housing nonprofit. Scott's donation aims to address the housing affordability crisis in San Francisco, where the average home value is over $1.2 million and the average rent is 68% higher than the national median. The donation will support the trust's mission of creating permanently affordable, resident-owned housing for low- and moderate-income individuals. Scott has donated over $14 billion to more than 1,600 nonprofits to date.
