Bloomberg reports that more than 12,000 comments in support of a Department of Labor plan tied to Trump’s executive order to expand Americans’ retirement investments into private equity and crypto appear manufactured to simulate grassroots backing, with five nearly identical templates and comments lacking signatures, locations, or personal details. Some supporters used the names of people who had died, including Danna Oderman and Lyngrid Rawlings, prompting a living relative to denounce the misuse of her name. The scheme suggests only a small pool of genuine support for the measure; officials from the White House and Labor Department did not immediately comment.
