Scandal-hit Rep. George Santos defended Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Twitter, criticizing United Airlines for blaming the Department of Transportation and Buttigieg for flight issues. Santos believes the blame lies with United and its CEO, Scott Kirby. This comes after United canceled numerous flights and Kirby chartered a private jet for his own travel. Santos has previously criticized Delta for its customer service. Santos and Buttigieg also found rare agreement in condemning homophobia in a campaign ad. Santos is currently facing federal charges and made a brief court appearance, with the next hearing scheduled for September 7.
