"Essential Guide to Safe and Affordable Solar Eclipse Viewing"
TL;DR
Experts advise against looking at the solar eclipse without special glasses, as it could cause severe eye injury. Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses are not safe for looking at the sun, and NASA warns against using materials such as CDs, mylar balloons, laser show glasses, or 3D glasses for solar viewing.
