Elon Musk's Blue Check Controversy: Celebs React.
TL;DR
Twitter has restored blue check-marks for many celebrities, including those who have died, after Elon Musk's threat to remove them from accounts that weren't paying for Twitter Blue. The badges imply that the accounts are paying subscribers, but it's unclear which ones are actually paying. Musk claimed to be paying for Twitter Blue on behalf of LeBron James, Stephen King, and William Shatner. Twitter also mistakenly granted a verified gold check-mark to a parody Disney Junior UK account that tweeted racial slurs and misinformation.
