Twitter to Remove Legacy Blue Checkmarks in April, Leaving Only Paying Subscribers Verified

Twitter will remove the verified check-mark status of accounts that were verified before Elon Musk's takeover unless they have subscribed to Twitter Blue or the business-focused Twitter Verified Organizations plan. Only individual Twitter users paying for Twitter Blue will have verified blue check-marks. Twitter recently introduced a gold check-mark for companies and brands and shifted government accounts to a gray check-mark. A subscription to the Twitter Verified Organizations program will be the only way to keep a gold or grey check-mark badge. Twitter first introduced verified accounts in 2009 to help users identify genuine accounts.
