Twitter's Blue Check Verification Sparks Controversy Among Celebrities

Elon Musk followed through on his threat to remove legacy verification from Twitter accounts, resulting in nearly all of the estimated 407k verified accounts losing their check marks. The only exceptions were newly unveiled Twitter Blue subscribers and a few celebrities. Twitter users responded with a selection of memes, while scammers took the opportunity to impersonate prominent figures and organizations that lost their check marks.
