Twitter's VIP Treatment: Who's on the Secret List?

Twitter has a list of around three dozen "VIP users," including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, LeBron James, and Ben Shapiro, according to a report. Elon Musk, Twitter's new owner, ordered his software engineers to create a special category of "power users" whose tweets consistently remain visible. Twitter engineers reportedly obeyed Musk's directive to tweak the system algorithm so that his posts remain more visible than other users'. The VIP list also reportedly includes President Biden, journalist Glenn Greenwald, and YouTube personality MrBeast. Musk has also announced that high-profile Twitter users who until now had a blue checkmark next to their name as a status symbol will have to pay up to $11 a month to keep it.
