Anthropic unveils Model Hardware Standard to have AI control physical devices

Anthropic introduces the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a standardized driver interface that lets AI models communicate with and control diverse lab devices via a common format and the Model Context Protocol for real-time reasoning and parameter adjustment. It includes a tagging system describing hardware constraints and safety limits, aims to speed up experimental setup from weeks to hours, and is piloted with partners like AWS Strands Robots, Hugging Face LeRobot, Raspberry Pi, Automata, and Universal Robots, with plans to become open-source and agent-agnostic.
