"Claiming Your Share: A Guide to Facebook's $725 Million Privacy Settlement"

Facebook users who had accounts between May 2007 and December 2022 can apply for a share of a $725 million privacy lawsuit settlement. The settlement is to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that Facebook allowed Cambridge Analytica to access about 87 million users' personal information. Payments will be calculated by a points system, with users assigned one point for each month in which they had an activated Facebook account. The final hearing to approve the settlement is set for Sept. 7 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
