"FTC Investigates Big Tech's AI Investments and Partnerships"

The Federal Trade Commission has launched an inquiry into major AI companies including Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, Anthropic, and OpenAI, focusing on their investments and partnerships with major cloud service providers. FTC Chair Lina Khan announced the study during the agency's tech summit on AI, stating that the rapid development and deployment of AI is informing their work across the agency. The inquiry, conducted under Section 6(b) of the FTC Act, allows the regulator to make civil investigative demands and order companies to provide specific reports and answer questions about their businesses.
