Italy Blocks ChatGPT AI Chatbot Due to Privacy Concerns

Italy's Data Protection Authority has temporarily blocked the AI chatbot ChatGPT, developed by US firm OpenAI, over data privacy concerns. The watchdog said OpenAI had no legal basis to justify the mass collection and storage of personal data for the purpose of training the algorithms underlying the operation of the platform. OpenAI must respond with measures to ensure users' data privacy within 20 days or face a fine of up to €20 million or 4% of annual global revenue.
