"Michigan State University's Data Breach Puts Community at Risk"

Michigan State University has announced that third-party service providers National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) were affected by a data breach conducted by the ransomware group "Clop." The breach, which exploited a security flaw in the MOVEit Transfer software, potentially exposed the personal data of MSU community members. Over 500 entities and 30 million individuals in the United States have been impacted by the breach. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has urged affected individuals to take the breach seriously and protect their information. MSU recommends using multifactor authentication, minimizing unnecessary data storage, and obtaining free annual credit reports to mitigate risks.
