Tech Companies Flee Austin's Lackluster Startup Scene

Austin, Texas, known for its booming tech industry, is experiencing a potential mass exodus of former Silicon Valley tech companies due to rising costs of living, low funding, and lack of diversity. Cloud computing company VMWare recently laid off 577 employees in Austin as part of a nationwide job reduction. Startup founders and companies like Meta and Google have also abandoned plans to move into Austin's skyscrapers. Some startups, such as Laundris and Cart, have already announced their decisions to relocate to other cities like Tulsa and Houston.
