Goldman Sachs research suggests that "generative" AI systems could automate a quarter of the work done in the US and eurozone, leading to a productivity boom that could raise global GDP by 7% over a 10-year period. However, this could also lead to "significant disruption" in the labor market, with the equivalent of 300 million full-time workers across major economies being exposed to automation. Lawyers and administrative staff would be among those at greatest risk of becoming redundant.
