Toyota's Electric GR Sports Car to Feature Fake Stick Shift and Enhanced Battery Range.

Toyota plans to give the illusion of driving a stick shift with fake vroom sound and all to get people excited about electric vehicles. The company may roll out the feature with its 2026 electric vehicle fleet. Electric cars are generally quiet, making them difficult for pedestrians, cyclists, and pets to hear them coming. To address the issue, in 2018, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began requiring electric vehicles and hybrids to emit sounds while operating under 19 mph.
