Waymo Launches Widespread Robotaxi Service in Los Angeles

Waymo, owned by Alphabet, has launched its largest robotaxi service expansion by opening its self-driving taxi service to all residents in Los Angeles, covering nearly 80 square miles. This marks the third city, after San Francisco and Phoenix, where Waymo's service is fully available. The expansion follows a $5.6 billion funding round aimed at growing its operations across the U.S. Waymo's service, which now sees over 150,000 paid rides weekly, is also set to launch in Austin, Texas, in 2025.
