TL;DR

A brush fire near Manhattan's Penn Station caused significant delays for Amtrak services between New York City and New Haven, affecting routes up to Boston and down to Washington, D.C. All service between Penn Station and New Haven was suspended for the day, with limited service to Boston. The fire, part of larger wildfires in New Jersey and New York, prompted a statewide ban on outdoor fires by Governor Kathy Hochul. Amtrak allowed ticket changes without fees due to the disruptions.
