Manassas Airport clears FAA hurdle, eyes commercial flights by 2027

Washington Manassas Airport earned the FAA Part 139 operating certificate, clearing the way for commercial passenger service and marking the first such Virginia milestone in more than 50 years. The airport, under a public-private partnership, plans a 32,000-square-foot terminal, TSA screening, 2,000+ parking spots, and an initial schedule of 3–4 departures per day with ambitions to reach up to 24; officials expect to secure an airline soon and target first flights by late 2027, aiming to boost the regional economy while balancing noise and traffic concerns.
