Rivian adds optional captain’s chairs to the R1S in 2027 refresh with up to $4,500 extra

Rivian will add second-row captain’s chairs to the R1S as part of the 2027 model-year refresh. To get them you must buy the Sound and Vision package for $2,500 (which also includes a glass roof and audio). The captain’s chairs themselves cost $1,500 with the Black Mountain interior or $2,000 with the Ocean interior, meaning the final seating upgrade can add up to $4,500. The existing second-row bench option remains for seven-seat configurations.
