Oakland Airport's Name Change Sparks San Francisco Legal Battle
TL;DR
Oakland International Airport is considering renaming itself to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, sparking controversy and internet suggestions for alternative names, including humorous and sarcastic options. Some suggestions playfully mock Oakland's lack of professional sports teams and crime woes, while others propose clever wordplay and geographical references. Despite the backlash, some airlines have expressed support for the proposed name change, while San Francisco officials are concerned about potential confusion for travelers.
