Yuba City McDonald’s worker severely burned after coworker hurls hot oil

A McDonald’s employee in Yuba City, California, was severely burned when a coworker allegedly threw hot oil on him. Jalani Bluett, 23, has been charged with felony battery with serious bodily injury, mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon and has pleaded not guilty. The victim, Jacob Smith, 20, remains in UC Davis ICU burn unit with burns to his face, neck, arm and back. The restaurant owner says Bluett is no longer employed and authorities are pursuing the case; doctors are trying to minimize the need for skin grafts.
