Miami cargo plane crash prompts investigation into flight history and contractor ties

A Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air overran the runway at Miami International Airport, hitting vehicles on a road behind the airport and ending up about 1,300 feet past the runway. Five people were killed and several others injured. Data recorders have been recovered and will be evaluated; the priority is recovering victims. The NTSB will investigate flight history, weather conditions, radar data, aircraft systems, engines, emergency response, and the Amazon-21 Air contractor relationship, with EMAS and other safety provisions likely to be examined. Two of the airport’s four runways remain closed as the investigation continues.
