Reuters Names Banksy: Robin Gunningham, Not Del Naja
TL;DR
Reuters reports it has traced Banksy’s identity to Robin Gunningham, who allegedly changed his name to David Jones, arguing he is the elusive graffiti artist behind the U.K.’s most famed politically charged murals. The investigation cites a Ukraine trip, photos with locals, a 2000 New York arrest with a handwritten confession, and other leads, while Banksy’s lawyers dispute the claims as privacy-invasive. The piece underscores the ongoing debate over Banksy’s anonymity and cultural impact.
