United Palace Hosts Tony Awards Uptown.
TL;DR
The Tony Awards will be held at the United Palace in Washington Heights, a former Loew's "Wonder Theater" designed by renowned theater architect Thomas W. Lamb. The 3,400-seat auditorium is a dazzling remnant of a golden age of cinema, with nearly every surface golden and gleaming. The United Palace has hosted movie screenings and concerts, and is excited to welcome a new audience with the Tony Awards. The venue has undergone a transformation in recent years, becoming a gathering place for Washington Heights residents and drawing crowds to Upper Manhattan with its film screenings.
