"Lempicka: A Broadway Musical Tribute to an Unrecognized Artistic Visionary"
TL;DR
The Broadway musical "Lempicka" portrays the life of artist Tamara de Lempicka, known for her Art Deco-era paintings of strong, luminous women, but struggles to fully capture the complexity of the titular character. Starring Eden Espinosa, the musical spans different epochs of Lempicka's life, addressing themes of class, patriarchy, and sexual liberation. While Espinosa's performance shines, the show's uneven storytelling and music leave the artist's complexity just beyond the frame, despite its efforts to cast her in a new light.
