One Battle After Another Leads WGA Awards 2026, With The Pitt and Dying for Sex Shining

The 2026 Writers Guild Awards were held in New York, with One Battle After Another winning the best adapted screenplay (accepted by Shayna McHayle on behalf of Paul Thomas Anderson). In TV, The Pitt won best new series and best episodic drama, The Righteous Gemstones won best episodic comedy, and Dying for Sex won the limited series category. The West Coast ceremony was canceled amid a strike, so the East Coast event proceeded with Roy Wood Jr. as host. The Writers Guild West staff union remains on strike. The guild will also honor Stephen Colbert (Walter Bernstein Award), Terry George (Ian McLellan Hunter Award), and Diana Son (Richard B. Jablow Award).
