KCAL Goes DJ-Free as Inland Empire Rock Station Goes Fully Automated

Inland Empire classic-rock station KCAL 96.7 fired its entire on-air staff and will switch to a fully automated, music-only format starting August 1, according to the station’s owners, Anaheim Broadcasting Corp. The change is pitched as delivering a focused, uninterrupted listening experience, but it leaves longtime DJs such as Daryl Norsell, John DeSantis, and Nikki Preston (among others) out of work as the station pivots to automation.
