Metrocenter Mall Demolition Draws Thousands for Final Farewell

Metrocenter Mall, once the biggest in the country, held an event to commemorate its history before being developed and remodeled into a "walkable urban village" as part of an $850 million revitalization project approved by the Phoenix City Council. Former employees and visitors expressed sadness at the closure of the mall, but also excitement for the new development that will bring multi-family housing, office, and retail spaces to the area.
