Towne Restaurant Shuts Down Permanently, Leaving Allentown in Disarray

Towne Restaurant, a longtime staple in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, has abruptly closed its doors for good without prior notice to employees. Co-owner Eleni Konstantopulous, daughter of the late co-founder George Scouras, apologized to staff for the sudden closure and cited several factors that led to the decision. The restaurant, founded in 1972, catered to a diverse clientele and had scaled back its hours in recent years. The closure comes as the intersection of Allen and Elmwood is closed for construction.
