Charli XCX redefines herself with guitar-forward Music, Fashion, Film

Charli XCX’s sixth album Music, Fashion, Film pivots from Brat’s dance-pop toward guitar-led, electronic-textured songs and isn’t a pure rock record. Built from guitar riffs rather than computer production, it features a black-and-white cover with John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese and explores fame, art and the tension between public persona and private life. Highlights include Rock Music, SS26 and Yeah, with a closing Cronenberg sample; at about 29 minutes it’s minimal and self-aware, signaling new directions beyond Brat (including a potential Wuthering Heights soundtrack).
