Rediscovered Carrington painting Villa Pilar to debut in London show

A newly rediscovered 1940 painting, Villa Pilar, by surrealist Leonora Carrington, painted during her confinement in a Spanish psychiatric hospital in Santander during WWII, will be publicly displayed in London this summer as part of the Freud Museum's Leonora Carrington – the Symptomatic Surreal exhibition; the show has been extended to August 10 before touring to Faro Santander, linking with her other wartime work Down Below and underscoring Carrington's broader surrealist and feminist legacy.
