Super Mario Bros. Theme Joins National Recording Registry with Music Icons.

The original Super Mario Bros theme, written by Koji Kondo, has become the first music from a video game to be included in the US Library of Congress' national recording registry. The registry also includes 24 other sound artifacts, such as Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" and Madonna's "Like a Virgin" album. Queen Latifah's 1989 album "All Hail the Queen" also made the list, making her the first female rapper with a recording in the registry. The inductees span over a century and include non-musical entries such as Carl Sagan's recording of his book "Pale Blue Dot" and NBC radio reporter Dorothy Thompson's commentaries from Europe during WWII.
