TL;DR

With most acts pulling out of the Freedom 250 concerts planned for the National Mall, Donald Trump floated performing himself as a replacement and claimed he’s bigger than Elvis; the event, funded in part by Trump-aligned firms, has drawn scrutiny over its political ties, while withdrawals by Morris Day, Young MC, Martina McBride, The Commodores and others shrink the lineup, and a Milli Vanilli dispute adds to the controversy. Organizers say the celebration remains nonpartisan and the White House has backed other 250th anniversary events.
