Scott Hylands, Night Heat's Lead Detective, Dies at 83

Scott Hylands, a Canadian actor best known for playing Det. Kevin 'O.B.' O’Brien on Night Heat—the first Canadian original drama to air in the U.S.—died July 29 at age 83 after a 2021 diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. The Toronto-shot series aired on CTV and CBS from 1985 to 1989; Hylands’ career spanned film and TV across decades. He is survived by his wife Veronica and daughter Rebecca; his son Luke announced the death.
