All My Children alum Paul Avery and wife perish in New Jersey house fire

Paul Avery, 81, known for All My Children and founder/executive editor of Ridge View Echo, and his wife Sheila Garry Avery died after a house fire in Blairstown, New Jersey. Firefighters rescued them but they passed away; the cause is under investigation. Their daughter Kyle confirmed the tragedy. Avery’s life także spanned acting on TV, a stint in the 1978 Superman film, Vietnam service as a helicopter crew chief, and later work in journalism before caregiving his wife after her 2018 stroke.
