"Paramount Accelerates Development of Second Star Trek Movie and Explores Starfleet Origins"
TL;DR
Paramount Pictures is developing a new Star Trek movie, separate from the upcoming "Star Trek 4," with director Toby Haynes and writer Seth Grahame-Smith. The new film is said to be an origin story set in the Kelvin Universe, while "Star Trek 4" is described as the final chapter in the main series. No production or release details have been announced for either movie, and it's unclear if the new project is related to a script mentioned by Patrick Stewart in a recent interview.
