SAG Board Recommends Strike Ahead of Contract Talks

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) has voted unanimously to recommend a strike ahead of upcoming film and TV contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The vote allows the SAG-AFTRA board to initiate strike action should studios fail to come to an agreement with the guild. The guild hasn’t gone on strike since the 1980s when a 95-day walkout was used to establish contract terms for paid TV and VHS cassettes.
