"‘Star Trek’ Origin Story Movie in Development, Directed by ‘Andor’ Director"
TL;DR
Paramount is working on a new "Star Trek" film, an origin story set decades before the 2009 movie, with Toby Haynes directing and Seth Grahame-Smith writing the script. Meanwhile, the fourth installment of the rebooted "Star Trek" series is still in development, described as the "final chapter." The film was initially announced in 2016, with Chris Pine and other original cast members expected to return, but faced uncertainty and was removed from the studio's film slate in 2022.
