Stephen Colbert's Response to Kate Middleton Jokes and Cancer Diagnosis
TL;DR
Late-night host Stephen Colbert addressed his prior jokes about Kate Middleton's absence and wished her well after she revealed her cancer diagnosis, stating that he does not make light of someone else's tragedy. Colbert had previously amplified unsubstantiated affair rumors about Kate's absence, but he did not offer an apology during his remarks. Some criticized him for the jokes, while others praised his response, and Kensington Palace declined to comment.
