Godzilla Sequel Debuts as NYFF Spotlight Gala Highlight

The 64th New York Film Festival will world premiere Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, as the Spotlight Gala on Sept. 26. GKIDS will release the film in the U.S. on Nov. 6 and in Japan on Nov. 3. Set in 1949 postwar Japan, it follows the Shikishima family as a new threat emerges, with festival organizers calling it a throwback blockbuster that blends human drama with ambitious effects. The NYFF runs Sept. 25–Oct. 12.
