Sean Penn to Direct Untitled January 6 Drama With Cooper Eyeing Lead
TL;DR
Sean Penn will direct an untitled drama about the early life of a Capitol Police officer who was present during the January 6 riot, with Bradley Cooper eyed for the lead. The project is set up at Warner Bros., Penn wrote the script and will produce via his Projected Picture Works, with a mid-2027 start targeted. Insiders say the film isn’t meant to be a straightforward retelling of Jan. 6 despite the premise and marketing emphasis on friendship amid controversy.
