"The Zone of Interest": Cannes' Scariest Horror Film of the Year Secures Worldwide Deals

The Zone of Interest, directed by Jonathan Glazer, is a horror-film adaptation of Hannah Arendt’s Eichmann in Jerusalem, based on Martin Amis’s novel of the same name. The film depicts the life of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of Auschwitz, and his family, who live in a well-appointed home with a large garden, just beyond which is the concentration camp. The film uses sound and visual abstraction to convey the dissociation of the characters from the atrocities they are committing, and to force the audience to confront their own moral compass.
