West Loop braces for 1,000-shot Malört world-record attempt

Hundreds are expected to gather at Recess in Chicago’s West Loop to attempt the world record for most Malört shots taken simultaneously, with more than 1,000 participants anticipated. Tickets sold out, a livestream will run 6–8 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. record shot is planned; the event features Malört-themed bites, live entertainment, prize giveaways and celebrity appearances, with proceeds benefiting Ravenswood Community Services. Participants can join in-person or, via dozens of participating bars nationwide or at-home shots.
