BTS Declines 2027 Grammys Submission, Urges Music to Transcend Language

BTS announced on Instagram that they will not submit music from their comeback album ARIRANG for Grammy consideration at the 2027 awards, saying they want music to be heard for what it is rather than by region or language. The move comes as the Recording Academy launches a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category with language requirements that could exclude songs even if they are popular, such as their past English-language hit behind the controversy. BTS released ARIRANG in March 2026 after completing mandatory military service and have previously been Grammy nominees and performers.
