Dave Kendall, Visionary Behind MTV's 120 Minutes, Passes Away

Dave Kendall, the British-born journalist who created and hosted MTV's influential 120 Minutes, has died; no cause or age was cited. The show launched in 1986 and Kendall hosted it from 1989 to 1992, championing indie and left-of-center acts before they broke into the mainstream. He later worked as a DJ and SiriusXM host, and in recent years lived in Thailand and Indonesia as a Bangkok Post correspondent and environmental advocate. Matt Pinfield called him a 'true believer' who gave a home to music that deserved to be heard, a rare gift.
