Jennifer Finch, L7’s Indie-Rock Trailblazer, Dies After Brain Cancer Battle

Jennifer Finch, bassist for the veteran indie-rock band L7, died at 59 after a battle with an aggressive brain cancer. A beloved figure in the 1990s punk/indie scene, she previously played with Courtney Love in Sugar Baby Doll and helped shape L7’s sound on landmark albums like Bricks Are Heavy. A GoFundMe set up to aid her treatment quickly surpassed its $350,000 goal with contributions from peers including Green Day, Pearl Jam and Tool. Finch’s legacy spans music, photography and writing, influencing a generation of women in rock, and she remained active with L7 until this year.
