Legendary Willie Nelson Celebrates 90th Birthday with Iconic Performances
TL;DR
Willie Nelson celebrated his 90th birthday with a two-night concert at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring duets with Keith Richards, Neil Young, and George Strait, as well as tribute performances from Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris, Booker T. Jones, Bob Weir, and more. Nelson's music, which draws upon his deepening life experience, is a sort of human arithmetic that transposes the earthly experience into tidy parcels of melody and rhyme. His singing voice, thirsty but tuneful, and still phrased in that push-and-pull way that eternally complicates the idea of "the present moment." Nelson's sons Lukas and Micah also performed, showcasing their father's unique position in temporality.
