Remembering Seymour Stein: The Man Who Signed Madonna and the Ramones.
TL;DR
Chris Frantz, drummer of Talking Heads, remembers Seymour Stein, co-founder of Sire Records, who had a rare ear for talent and signed many great artists including Talking Heads, Madonna, Lou Reed, and Depeche Mode. Stein fell in love with Talking Heads' music at CBGB's and offered to sign them. He coined the term "New Wave" to help get their music played on the radio. Stein was a true musicologist and collector of art and antiques, and his support for Talking Heads never wavered.
