ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard has died at 77 in hospice care at his Texas ranch, ending a six-decade backbeat that helped define the band's sound. Beard, who joined ZZ Top in 1971 and powered hits like La Grange, Tush and Legs, faced health issues in recent years and contributed to the band canceling shows; the group says it will continue on in line with his wish to keep the music alive, following the 2021 death of bassist Dusty Hill and the 2021 addition of Elwood Francis.
